Wedding Fair at Goldsborough Hall

This weekend Mr P and I went along to a wedding fair at Goldsborough Hall. This is the second fair we've been too and they are so much fun- getting ideas for your wedding combined with free champagne and cake! The wedding fair was free and Goldsborough Hall is stunning- so essentially we got a free day out too!

We had such a lovely day and I think I've picked out the style of wedding ring I want! The venue was lovely and I think if I hadn't already decided on my wedding venue being in a barn conversion then I would of maybe considered going for this!

Cats

So when we first got there we were distracted for a while by a little black cat near to the entrance. All the other couples we saw ahead walked straight past it- and then there was us in the middle of the path fussing over it! Once we were given our drinks- champagne for me and orange juice for Mr P- we walked to the outside dining/picnic area and there was another black cat having a sunbathe! Later on outside near the gardens, we saw yet another cat, this time a ginger one just sat proudly enjoying the sun. I had to include pictures of these as I adore cats and it made me love this place even more.

When Mr P crouched down to stroke the black cat at the entrance it jumped up onto his knee and started paw padding him! Poor Mr P as they really dig in their claws when they do that- I've never seen a cat do that to a stranger before!!

Once we were inside we got given a goody bag and then there were quite a few suppliers (40 I think) with stalls offering everything from rings to bouquets to photobooths! We had a go in the photobooth and got two free prints. They are are much fun!

The writings a bit small on this picture so I apologise. The signs we are holding say "I stole her heart" and "So I stole his last name" Cute right!!

The first fair we went to made me decide that we have GOT to have a photobooth! I started looking up prices and the average was around £600.00. Pretty expensive really! So my mum came up with the excellent idea of setting up our own booth, and letting everyone use a digital camera to take group selfies, armed with silly props of course! I can't wait to see what silly pictures we have from the big day!

Now the exciting bit. We've had a little bit of a look in the past few months at different types of wedding bands- and without actually trying any on I thought I'd go for a plain band with three very small diamonds embedded in. After looking at a couple of different jewellers at the fair today we stumbled across 'Dante Fine Jewellery", a local jeweller. The man was super friendly and helped us out loads, I got trying a few different rings on with my engagement ring and then I picked up this...

As soon as I put it on my finger it just felt 'right!'. The top of the band is filled with tiny diamonds and the underneath just a plain band. The whole band however, is in the wavy pattern (style, pattern, what do you call it!?) and I thought it looked so unique and something a bit different! As we were talking away I kept going back to that ring and trying it on and just looking at it. Before coming to the conclusion of... I want this ring!

Dante's jewellery offer a bespoke service and so each ring is created exactly how you want it and exactly to fit- his display items are made of silver just so people can get an idea of what they would like. You then decide on your metal, exactly how you would like it and get it made to fit!

Mr P roughly decided on a design he would like and this is it..

(I tried to convince him on a design very similar but at the bottom it had engraved names and date of the wedding in tiny print- normally I find stuff like that slightly tacky but it was surprisingly classy- unfortunately I don't think he is keen! Lol.)
After a trip outside and a think about it we went back inside and booked an appointment for him to come round in September to discuss and place the orders if we so wish! I know I want that design of ring- it's now just a matter of deciding on the metal we would like!

Also, it has got me into a big matter of ring etiquette! Traditionally you are supposed to wear the wedding band underneath your engagement ring, this derives from when people believed the vein from your left finger ran to your heart, hence the wedding ring being closest to your heart. However, for some reason I really like the look of it how I tried it on, with my engagement ring at the bottom. I feel like if I had a plain band I would want that underneath the engagement ring, however because the wedding band I like is a bit more glitzy I think I want it above the engagement ring to show it off a bit, it will also be lovely if the wedding band was sandwiched in between the engagement ring and an eternity ring in future. Also I feel like a marriage is built on the foundations of a solid relationship and engagement so in that sense I kinda think it would be nice to have the engagement ring under the wedding band, forming it's 'foundation' so to speak!

What do you all think? Does tradition matter here or is it a personal choice?!

Soo after making this exciting decision we went and sat outside and had a look through the VIP goodybag! This is what was it contained:

I can't wait to try some of these out- especially the Clarins Lotion and planting the seeds!! :)

Whilst we were sitting outside clumsy me managed to knock a champagne glass over on the table- typical!!

I am always doing things like this- it didn't surprise Mr P in the slightest! I think I've got so used to apologising for breaking glasses too! Wooops!!

We then went to the nearest town for a bit of shopping and I got some dresses and a skirt in the Jane Norman and Quiz sale's! (Will leave out pictures for now as I may do a separate blog post on them at some point!) It was a really lovely day with the ring choosing being by far the most exciting part!!

I totally love wedding fairs! :)

What does everyone else think of wedding fairs? :) Comment below!!

PS.

We saw this huge totally gorgeous rose in the town!

How beautiful!!

Start Of Summer Beauty Buys

I decided the other day I haven't treated myself to new buys in a while so when my concealer, face wash and eyebrow pencil ran out I was super happy it meant I got to go shopping for new products! :D

Here are my beauty buys for the start of the summer:

Sleek Brow Kit in Dark:

Wow I absolutely adore the Sleek eyebrow kit! It is the best eyebrow product I've used, EVER. It comes with two little palettes of product, a tinted wax to shape and define brows and then coloured powder to set. Also inside this is an angled brush for the wax, a blending brush for the powder and a cute pair of mini tweezers perfect for getting to any stray hairs whilst on the move! Adorable!

I've survived up till now on pencils and didn't realise how much I was missing out on. The wax allows you to really define your brows, going on much smoother and more defined than a pencil; the angled brush allows you to apply it perfectly. Then the powder is a perfect finishing touch to the look. My eye brows looked amazing after this, as good as a tint!

I did think it was a little pricy at £8.50 but now I know why (and it's still only a few pounds more than eyebrow pencils I've used). This is definitely worth the money!!

I adore Sleek products- I also have their Face Form which is great for contouring, I love it! You can read a great review of that on Lil Loves blog! :)

Nivea Gentle Exfoliating Scrub:

Mr P won't use anything but this so I thought I would try it to seeing as it is buy one get one free at Tesco at the minute! (usually priced at £4.07 each).
It's gentle enough to use every day and seems to be improving my spots (eugh hormones) so I'm not complaining! I usually use the Neutrogena visibly clear gentle exfoliating wash and I think this Nivea one is gentler and less drying on my skin.

Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon:

These looked so cute that I just had to try them! Recently I've binned all my lip glosses and just stuck to proper lipsticks as I was fed up of the gloopy mess in my hair from lipgloss and felt they didn't stay put very long no matter which brand I tried. So when I saw the Colour boost lip crayon I was interested to see what they would be like; with their bare lip formula there is no stickiness and they are a lot more moisturising than lipsticks!

I got this in the 02 Fuschia Libre shade and the 03 Orange Punch.

The Fuschia Libre is like your standard bright pink colour and gives a wonderful shine. I love the way they feel on my lips also, super soft- their formula contains silk extract!
I felt like the Orange Punch could of been a bit brighter as going on my lips it was quite a pale pink colour rather than the striking coral I was expecting!
These are really handy for just popping some lippy on when on the go and are great for a summer day time casual look.

Have you tried the other colours in this range? Would love to hear about them in the comments box! :)

Collection 2000 Cover Up Stick:

I got this as it was cheap  and thought it was worth trying out. I can't say I'm very impressed with it,  lot of product is needed for any coverage at all and I felt it got into my pores and actually highlighted imperfections more. You definitely get what you pay for with this product so I can't complain!

I do however love the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection foundation so I don't think this is a reflection on the brand, just this particular product isn't for me! :)

Has anyone got any recommendations for concealer  on a budget for me? Let me know in the comments box!

Bic Soleil Scented Razors:

I love these because they are scented! It comes with different shades of pink and a purple in the packet and they all smell of lavender which is light and this in my opinion makes them smell sweet and summery :) I mainly bought these because they were on offer and there was a prize in conjunction with Bourjois to win a little round pot eyeshadow (which I didn't win but there is 50 000 up for grabs- I did however get a £2.00 off voucher for the eyeshadow!)
Other than that these are just standard razors really, three blades with twin lubricating strip, got no complaints about them and they offered a close shave considering they were only £1.50 lol!

Nail Art (Freebie):

This was a free gift I got for buying two bourjois products! It is the spring-summer 2013 nail art back so it is last year however it's so cute! I am super into nail art and last summer spent most of my time practicing nail art on one of my friends- she had everything from minion to doctor who to converse nails!

With this kit you get:

Black Nail Stickers:

These are adorable and turn boring nails into something pretty! Super easy to apply- just peel off and stick on your nail- I found they are best used when the nail is still a bit 'tacky' to allow them to stick properly without smudging any polish! The smaller ones are best applied with tweezers as they can be fiddly :)

Stencils:

These are awesome and you just apply to your nail after you have covered your nail in your first colour choice of polish and paint. You can make lots of cute designs with these, my favourite has to be the little tux's :)

Sparkle Tape:

You get loads of this! Just unwind, snip and place on your nail. Adds some cute sparkle to turn casual nails into more of a going out look!

Let me know your summer beauty buys in the comments box below guys! Have you tried any of the same products? :)

Review of Benefit's "They're real" New Push Up Eyeliner and "They're Real" Mascara

Super Excited

I was super excited when I was chosen by the Debenhams Beauty Club to review Benefit's new push up eyeliner! I signed up to Debenhams Beauty Club card back in my first year of uni when I bought some estee lauder foundation there and it's great- you collect up your points from purchases and get occasional emails with offers etc!

I love Benefit and as their products can be quite pricey since starting uni I haven't been able to treat myself to them quite so much! I was even more excited when I saw the push up liner to review came with a miniature version of their "They're Real!" Mascara so that the complete look can be tested out.

"They're Real!" Push- Up Liner

The push up eyeliner is something I've never seen before! The tip is something called an "AccuFlex" tip with the purpose of it being so that you get a lash hugging application. And flexible it is! When I first opened the tube and saw the tip I was thinking "how does this not hurt your eyes?!" as it's a slanted tip and looks quite firm, however it's really not, once you feel it and apply it to your eyes it's really soft and smooth and the gel eyeliner goes on really well!

The liner itself comes in a cute little tube with a screw top- like all of Benefit's products the packaging is aesthetically pleasing. To use you simply rotate the base of the liner pen once which makes the gel eyeliner pop out. Word of warning: It comes up rather slowly so don't do what I did and get impatient and turn it several times, you end up with too much eyeliner coming out and it goes to waste as too much out and it will just snap off when you go to apply.

The eyeliner is easy to apply and the tip means you can position it really close to lashes. As I'm used to liquid eyeliners rather than pens, the first time I tried it I did find it a little tricky to do my eyeliner flicks and had to experiment with ways to hold it to make it easier for me. Once I mastered this though I found it a lot easier!

The colour goes on really black and it's durability is great! At the end of the day my liner is still bold black with this product which is a really great thing about it as I usually find eyeliner to dull out or flake off pretty quick! I was a little dubious as to how different it would be to other eyeliners as I already know to get the eyeliner as close to my lashes as possible, it's common sense right! But it really really does! I noticed straight away how much BIGGER my eyes looked, which was a shock to me as usually whatever I do they are still small! This made them instantly rounder and wider!

An all round winner, with the only disadvantage being that I find it slightly harder than liquid eyeliner to get my flicks right, but a bit of practice and this will definitely be on my 'maybe' list of cosmetics to wear on my big day!!

"They're Real!" Mascara

After knowing people who use this mascara and it not being a brand new product I was surprised and super pleased we got this to sample along with the push up liner- even if it is just a small sample tube!

And Oh my gosh, I love it! This went on super easily with no clumps whatsoever and only needed two layers. (Recently due to being a skint student I've been buying the cheaper mascaras and I've noticed I sometimes need FOUR coats just to achieve the look I want). I've used their bad GAL lashes mascara in the past before and was interested to see how this contended, whereas the bad gal lash dramatically thickens lashes this elongates them and really gives them that extra curl!

This made lashes 'POP' and look super long and thick too, without that dreaded clumpy spider leg look! After using this mascara along with the pop up liner I could definitely notice how much bigger my eyes looked! Mr P also noticed my eyes looked bigger which is saying something as I could have a parrot perched on my head and he wouldn't notice usually lol! At £19.50 it is a little pricey but here you are definitely paying for what you get!

A big winner for me!!

Big thank you to both Debenhams Beauty Club and Benefit Cosmetics for the chance to review these wonderful products!

What does everyone think of Benefit's products? Anyone else used this mascara? Leave a comment below!! :)

Becoming Mrs P

"Will you marry me?" This is the four words most little girls grow up dreaming of! They dream of the day the prince on the white horse comes riding up to them and sweeps them off their feet,of living in a sparkling palace happily ever after. Reality skips the white horse and the palace; the prince's aren't always the cliché of the knights in shining armour, and very few people (aside from Kate Middleton) get the palace that comes along with it! But it is still perfect.

Reality can be getting proposed to in the bath and then both of you realising the ring needs to come off again almost straight after because, well your in the bath and you don't want to get it wet! Cue getting the ring slipped on your finger twice! Reality isn't the perfect prince, he's a man who drives you crazy with loads of annoying little habits but you still love him despite all these. The perfect fairy tales from the story books when you were younger don't exist, but your own version of them can and they can be imperfectly perfect!

So here I am, my last year of university coming up and we're buying our first house in the summer and planning a wedding for two years time! So much excitement coming up and I thought what better way to share it than with a blog! I hope to incorporate my love of pretty things, make up and Taylor Swift into my blog as you all share my journey of buying and decorating our home and planning the wedding!

I'm going to be sharing my interior design dreams, sharing every detail along the way of planning my wedding and throwing in reviews about wedding day makeup!

Anybody else planning a wedding I would love to hear from you in the comments box! :)
