Wedding Fair at Goldsborough Hall

This weekend Mr P and I went along to a wedding fair at Goldsborough Hall. This is the second fair we've been too and they are so much fun- getting ideas for your wedding combined with free champagne and cake! The wedding fair was free and Goldsborough Hall is stunning- so essentially we got a free day out too!

We had such a lovely day and I think I've picked out the style of wedding ring I want! The venue was lovely and I think if I hadn't already decided on my wedding venue being in a barn conversion then I would of maybe considered going for this!

Cats

So when we first got there we were distracted for a while by a little black cat near to the entrance. All the other couples we saw ahead walked straight past it- and then there was us in the middle of the path fussing over it! Once we were given our drinks- champagne for me and orange juice for Mr P- we walked to the outside dining/picnic area and there was another black cat having a sunbathe! Later on outside near the gardens, we saw yet another cat, this time a ginger one just sat proudly enjoying the sun. I had to include pictures of these as I adore cats and it made me love this place even more.

When Mr P crouched down to stroke the black cat at the entrance it jumped up onto his knee and started paw padding him! Poor Mr P as they really dig in their claws when they do that- I've never seen a cat do that to a stranger before!!

Once we were inside we got given a goody bag and then there were quite a few suppliers (40 I think) with stalls offering everything from rings to bouquets to photobooths! We had a go in the photobooth and got two free prints. They are are much fun!

The writings a bit small on this picture so I apologise. The signs we are holding say "I stole her heart" and "So I stole his last name" Cute right!!

The first fair we went to made me decide that we have GOT to have a photobooth! I started looking up prices and the average was around £600.00. Pretty expensive really! So my mum came up with the excellent idea of setting up our own booth, and letting everyone use a digital camera to take group selfies, armed with silly props of course! I can't wait to see what silly pictures we have from the big day!

Now the exciting bit. We've had a little bit of a look in the past few months at different types of wedding bands- and without actually trying any on I thought I'd go for a plain band with three very small diamonds embedded in. After looking at a couple of different jewellers at the fair today we stumbled across 'Dante Fine Jewellery", a local jeweller. The man was super friendly and helped us out loads, I got trying a few different rings on with my engagement ring and then I picked up this...

As soon as I put it on my finger it just felt 'right!'. The top of the band is filled with tiny diamonds and the underneath just a plain band. The whole band however, is in the wavy pattern (style, pattern, what do you call it!?) and I thought it looked so unique and something a bit different! As we were talking away I kept going back to that ring and trying it on and just looking at it. Before coming to the conclusion of... I want this ring!

Dante's jewellery offer a bespoke service and so each ring is created exactly how you want it and exactly to fit- his display items are made of silver just so people can get an idea of what they would like. You then decide on your metal, exactly how you would like it and get it made to fit!

Mr P roughly decided on a design he would like and this is it..

(I tried to convince him on a design very similar but at the bottom it had engraved names and date of the wedding in tiny print- normally I find stuff like that slightly tacky but it was surprisingly classy- unfortunately I don't think he is keen! Lol.)
After a trip outside and a think about it we went back inside and booked an appointment for him to come round in September to discuss and place the orders if we so wish! I know I want that design of ring- it's now just a matter of deciding on the metal we would like!

Also, it has got me into a big matter of ring etiquette! Traditionally you are supposed to wear the wedding band underneath your engagement ring, this derives from when people believed the vein from your left finger ran to your heart, hence the wedding ring being closest to your heart. However, for some reason I really like the look of it how I tried it on, with my engagement ring at the bottom. I feel like if I had a plain band I would want that underneath the engagement ring, however because the wedding band I like is a bit more glitzy I think I want it above the engagement ring to show it off a bit, it will also be lovely if the wedding band was sandwiched in between the engagement ring and an eternity ring in future. Also I feel like a marriage is built on the foundations of a solid relationship and engagement so in that sense I kinda think it would be nice to have the engagement ring under the wedding band, forming it's 'foundation' so to speak!

What do you all think? Does tradition matter here or is it a personal choice?!

Soo after making this exciting decision we went and sat outside and had a look through the VIP goodybag! This is what was it contained:

I can't wait to try some of these out- especially the Clarins Lotion and planting the seeds!! :)

Whilst we were sitting outside clumsy me managed to knock a champagne glass over on the table- typical!!

I am always doing things like this- it didn't surprise Mr P in the slightest! I think I've got so used to apologising for breaking glasses too! Wooops!!

We then went to the nearest town for a bit of shopping and I got some dresses and a skirt in the Jane Norman and Quiz sale's! (Will leave out pictures for now as I may do a separate blog post on them at some point!) It was a really lovely day with the ring choosing being by far the most exciting part!!

I totally love wedding fairs! :)

What does everyone else think of wedding fairs? :) Comment below!!

PS.

We saw this huge totally gorgeous rose in the town!
